Gunvor Nervold Antonsen

Gunvor Nervold Antonsen (b. 1974) lives and works in Rollag, Numedal.
Through an experimental, energetic, and raw visual language, she explores society and existence, often with a personal and local grounding. The fundamental forces of nature—its rawness and cycles—interact constantly with Nervold Antonsen’s artistic expression. Literary texts and performative readings also form part of her artistic practice; she frequently collaborates with musicians to perform her own texts.

Nervold Antonsen was educated at Forsøksgymnaset in Oslo, Usko-Ayar Escuela de Pintura Amazónica in Peru, the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, and the University of Oslo. She has exhibited at venues including Kunstnernes Hus, Trondheim Art Museum, Kunstnerforbundet, Kunsthall Stavanger, Lillehammer Art Museum, and Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall.

Her work has been acquired by the National Museum, KODE, the Nordenfjeldske Museum of Decorative Arts, the Government Quarter, Norges Bank, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and she has created public artworks for several institutions. She has received numerous awards, most recently the Ingeborg and Per Palle Storm Honorary Award (2024).
